Description
The Flight 93 Memorial in Sommerset County. The memorial i sbuilt to show the flight path of the plane. The area is very somber and quiet and is eerily reminiscent of how it sounded after 911. None of the visitors talk above a whisper, most were silent, there is no buzz that you usually hear in everyday life. It is very peaceful and respectful with spots to leave items in the wall leading to the marble memorial wall. No one is allowed onto the impact field to let those heroes have peace, and respect for their sacrifice in protecting America that a national hero deserves
United Airlines Flight 93 was a passenger flight which was hijacked by four al-Qaeda terrorists on September 11, 2001, as part of the September 11 attacks. It crashed into a field near the Diamond T. Mine in Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania near Shanksville, during an attempt by some of the passengers to regain control, killing all 44 people aboard including the four hijackers. No one on the ground was injured. The aircraft involved, a Boeing 757222, was flying United Airlines' daily scheduled morning domestic flight from Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco International Airport in San Francisco, California.
